SONGS FOR THE KUBSEBY.
47
" Let me swim first," said old Dame Duck;
"To this side, now to that; There, snap at those great brown-winged flies;
They make young ducklings fat.
" Now, when you reach the poultry-yard,
The hen-wife, Molly Head, Will feed you, with the other fowls,
On bran and mashed-up bread :
" The hens will peck and fight; but mind,
I hope that all of you Will gobble up the food as fast
As well-bred ducks should do.
" You'd better get into the dish,
Unless it is too small; In that case, I should use my foot,
And overturn it all."
The ducklings did as they were bid,
And found the plan so good, That, from that day, the other fowls
Got hardly any food.
That we have lost our mittens!" " Lost your mittens ! You naughty kittens! Then you shall have no pie."
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow! " No, you shall have no pie."
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow!
The three little kittens found their mittens; And they began to cry, " O mother dear, See here, see here! See, we have found our mittens!" " Put on your mitteus, You silly kittens, And you may have some pie." Purr-r, purr-r, purr-r! " Oh, let us have the pie !"
Purr-r, purr-r, purr-r!
The three little kittens put on their mittens. And soon eat up the pie. " O mother dear, We greatly fear
THREE LITTLE KITTENS.
Mrs. Foi.lkn.
Three little kittens lost their mittens; And they began to cry, " O mother dear, We very much fear
That we have soiled our mittens!" " Soiled your mittens ! Yon naughty kittens!" Then they began to sigh,
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow.' Then they began to sigh,
Mee-ow, mee-ow, mee-ow!
